実はこの動画、米ノースカロライナ州カバラス郡カナポリスにあるコーヒーショップ「Local Patriot Roasting Company」が9月27日、TikTokとInstagramに投稿したものだった。同コーヒーショップは、このほどカバラス郡のローカルニュースメディア『Independent Tribune』が発表した「2023年、カバラス郡ベストコーヒー（Best Coffee in Cabarrus County 2023）」に選ばれた。

そのため同コーヒーショップでは、ベストコーヒーに投票してくれた地元の人たちに感謝の意を表すため、レッドカーペットで出迎えることにしたという。そしてTikTokに投稿した動画のキャプションには、このように綴られていた。

「カバラス郡ベストコーヒー賞2023を受賞！　これを発表することに心が躍っています。私たちはIndependent Tribuneのベストコーヒー賞を2年連続で受賞しました！　お客様は家族です！」

また、Instagramにも「投票してくださった素晴らしいお客様に感謝しています。みなさんのおかげです」と言葉が添えられていた。同コーヒーショップは退役軍人の男性2人と彼らをサポートする女性が経営しており、地元市民だけでなく警察官や消防士なども訪れて地域交流の場になっているそうだ。

なお、テックインサイト編集部では「Local Patriot Roasting Company」に、レッドカーペットを敷いて来店客を迎えるというアイディアはどのようにして思いついたのか、また2年連続でベストコーヒー賞を受賞したことに対する顧客の反響などをうかがうべく取材を申し入れている。
